Flower Girl Dresses

Flower girls in dresses and riding wedding cart wagon

I recently finished new handmade flower girl dresses for toddlers in Florida. These silk and tulle dresses are perfect for beach weddings. And if you add the Anagrassia girls fur jacket, they are great for winter weddings & holiday events too! The older sister is wearing the Regal Flower Girl Dress by Anagrassia. The bodice of this dress is a beautiful diamond white silk wool with silk charmeuse lining. The...

Communion Silk Wool Dress with Illusion Neck

Communion Silk Dress Illusion Neck

I recently made this beautiful white silk wool dress with illusion neckline for a little girl receiving her First Holy Communion. Due the Covid-19 and the quarantine orders, we haven’t had the girl try on the dress yet. I make future adjustments to this dress after the final fitting.  Silk Communion Dress: White Silk Wool Textile Silk Charmeuse Lining White Dotted Netting for Illusion Neckline Cotton Pom Pom Trim  This dress...

The Cascade Champagne Silk Wool and Silk Charmeuse Dress

Silk Wool charmeuse champagne long dress crossover cascade gown Cascade Champagne Silk Wool & Silk Charmeuse Dress I really don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to enter Burdastyle’s pattern challenge and downloaded their cascade dress pattern. Not only did I think I would have time to sew the dress, but I also planned to embroider its top crossover edge.! Fortunately, I was able to bypass sleep and finish sewing the dress just before the deadline. However I was unable to finish the embroidery. At this point, I’m not sure if I will add its embroidery.. (I think I will save it for a dress I know I’ll wear more often.) I don’t particularly like this dress. There are too many details going on. And I really don’t like the ruffle on the shoulder. Perhaps I’m boring, but I feel like I’m a mermaid with a seashell on my shoulder. (I had one sister laugh and call it a croissant, while another sister called it a perogi.) If it weren’t a Burdastyle pattern challenge, I probably would have eliminated the ruffle, (with no hesitation). I recently received this really special Christmas gift from my aunt. It’s a necklace with a photo of my babcha (grandmother)on one side and photo of my dido (grandfather) on the other side. The top bodice is lined with ivory silk charmeuse. Originally the skirt was lined with ivory silk charmeuse too, but I ultimately eliminated it. The two silk layers did not fall nicely together and it created more bulk at the hip. (This was a headache considering I had to seam rip everything apart and then hand-stitch the skirt edges again!!)

I really don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to enter BurdaStyle’s pattern challenge and downloaded their cascade dress pattern. Not only did I think I would have time to sew the dress, but I also planned to embroider its top crossover edge! (Vote for your favorite dress here) Fortunately, I was able to bypass sleep and finish sewing the dress just before the deadline. However I was unable...

Tying the Knot(s): Last Minute Sewing and Hand Stitching Before the Wedding

Beige Silk Wool Mother of the Bride Dress Marusya

The weekend began with late night sewing and an art show. (Yes- I was in an art show with all this work ahead of me! I inadvertently registered for the event last spring before I realized I had 2 weddings one week after the show!) Despite the lack of time & preparation, the day was very nice & successful!   Less than 5 days until the wedding! (Only 2 more work...

Mother of the Bride Dress…Ready Set Go!

My sister and I picked up the silk/wool fabric for my mom. It will look beautiful on her olive tinted skin! And even better, the silk wool will look beautiful and breathe very nicely. My mom owns a blue shift dress that fits her extremely well. I will attempt to create a pattern from this blue dress or (since the dress is a basic shift dress) I may even draft...
